A novel by Jane Smiley, loosely based on Shakespeare's King Lear on the Cook family and its dark secrets. Director Moorhouse appears tamed in its approach, which allows people to step forward and take a bow. And how could go wrong with the talent of Pfeiffer, Lange, Leigh, Firth, and Carradine Robards?

I think others have already commented on this film, but I liked it so much I wanted to say that this is a good movie. I gave it a rating of 9 out of 10. Not get a 10 because it is very slow startup. Nearly leave it, but I am glad we do not. Hang in there, worth the wait. This is primarily a DVD movie Thousand Acres, A about relationships: deception, trust and betrayal. Michelle Pfeiffer, Jessica Lange and Jason Robards bang done every job in this film. Established in Midwest farm country, Jason Robards character is a farmer whose grandfather first settled there. Jason's character is aging and decides to create a division of the trust of thousands of acres of arable land between his three adult daughters. That's when the plot of this Thousand Acres, A movie really starts cooking. Sisters turn against each other because of misunderstanding, rather than the greed of the land. Also make some discoveries about another child, and his current marriage, which includes a case of adultery, while the father becomes increasingly abusive, demanding and paranoid - until the terrible truth about the world finally arrives a boiling point. This film: Thousand Acres, A really reached me emotionally, I am angry right along with some of the characters, and sad with them. I could feel their pain because of the excellent performances that were given. The final was a bit of a surprise for me, but in line with the growth of the characters.

I liked this movie, but the feeling that I got further with the memory of how much they had enjoyed the novel. The DivX film Thousand Acres, A has two of the best actresses working today - Jessica Lange, which is great, God and Jennifer Jason Leigh, who does the best it can with a bit of traction that occurs - as well as a great surprise Michelle Pfeiffer and constant Jason Robards. The adjustment is basically faithful to the book, at least as faithfully as we can in one hour and forty minutes. The DivX Movie Thousand Acres, A does not really dazzle, with the exception of certain scenes from Lange and Pfeiffer, but a fund for employment of competent display this wonderful drama. As far as the films adapted from novels go, this was definitely one of the best. If nothing else, sent me back to my favorite bookstore to rediscover parts of Jane Smiley's excellent novel, and back to King Lear in the least to cool characters in order to see how deep the parallels go. It is worth your time as a movie, no doubt, and hopefully enough to make you remember reading the great works of literature is also a joy.
